DEL SCORCHO COMES TO LIFE

Down at Digger’s Dungeon in Kill Devil Hills, NC, Del Scorcho is starting to come to life. Designed by Monster Jam fan and Del Taco patron Tim Andren of Huntington Beach, CA, Del Scorcho is Del Taco’s new monster truck for 2006. Andren’s Del Scorcho design was selected as the winning design from amongst thousands of entries submitted for the Del Taco Monster Truck Design Contest earlier in the year.

Although there is still plenty of work yet to be done, the Ford 150 is progressing nicely. The covered rear bed has already been created, and is currently being fitted to a temporary truck. This portion of the truck is unique because the serrated back tailgate was specially designed to emulate one of Del Taco’s hot sauce packets. The focal point of the truck, the flames on the roof, are still in the design phase. The mold for the flames is scheduled to be created in the coming weeks. The body of the truck will be constructed in conjunction with the roof flames. The final part of this mechanical puzzle, the painting of the truck, will take place once the entire fiberglass body and roof flames are fully constructed. The truck is scheduled for completion by December 1st.

Much time, energy and creativity has gone into making this monster truck fantasy a reality. Del Scorcho is scheduled to be unveiled at a Del Taco location in the Anaheim area in January 2006, and will make its hometown debut at the Del Taco Grand Slam of Motorsports at Angel Stadium on January 14, 2006.
